I'll be heading over to check them out on the 5th.

I like this atlas though, I'm suprised it is not more updated than it is. Although there are some easy to get to trails listed in chesapeake. Maybe we'll have to meet up and check them out. after I get my winch installed of course.
You're welcome, Al. Yes, I have a Jeep but it's not a 4x4. It's actually a grocery getter IMHO. (Jeep Patriot). I'm really surprised at the way it runs and handles. Not much for gas mileage since I've only put 1500 miles on it, the way I see it, it isn't broke in yet.

BTW, if you want I can take out the link in my previous post. I was linking the trails listing and not the club per se.

No one has said anything about it yet, There are trails listed on that link. I'd say leave it until we get something from higher authority saying otherwise.

I'm planning on attending one of their meetings though to see what it's about. I know I'll be needing help with my jeep soon enough. And wrenching parties are always a good thing.

I'm just going to put it out there- there are NO legal areas to wheel in VA, unless it's at GWNF, or private land. And even a lot of GWNF is being shut down due to land erosion. check out VA4WD for better info...

That is cool info, thanks for posting, but I agree, not quite as up to date. I know of several clubs not far from me, but our rides are usually on private land.

Are you heading to the 18th Annual Tidewater Fourwheelers Trail Ride and Poker Run Benefiting VA4WDA
SEPTEMBER 17-18, 2010

Oakridge Estate, Lovingston, VA Comming up?

Ohh one more thing. I can legally off road on base in designated areas. but usually when in our hummers. Sorry couldn't resist. putting is comment out there. Ft. Story has some really good trails just for tootling around in. I mostly run on em though.

My wife's side of the family nearly exclusively organizes that event (the "annual" as it's locally called). The smith's and bouchers (carla boucher is one of the lead legal team members for United 4wd) have a lot of involvement in it.

However, another family involved with it has turned me off so much to that event, that until they stop assisting in the event's duties, I will not be a part of it. They like to toot their own horns far too much. I won't even renew my membership with Tidewater Fourwheelers until they are off the board of directors.

Ohh have you thought about middle peninsula Jeep Association?

I guess you live on the other side of the Bay. I haven't checked into many clubs yet as the one above is local I believe. I need to get with someone. Sorry about the family I know how it goes. Sometimes you just want to be and have a good time like everyone else without someone showing off or embarrasing you.

I've been to several MPJAI coffee runs, many DSO runs, and as I said earlier, I used to be a member of Tidewater Fourwheelers.

With my schedule being what it is, I hardly have any time for myself, let alone attending meetings or coffee runs. I primarily associate with DSO (Darkside Offroad). They're the better of the groups, in my personal opinion.

I'll have to check them out too. My take on it is, I'd rather have more friends than limit myself to only one or two. I believe DSO is open to all 4X4's correct?
