Default 2008 Patriot fueling problem

My 2008 Jeep Patriot just started (over the last 3 times I have filled up the gas tank) to click off the nozzle every 2-3 seconds. It takes me more than 10 minutes to fill my tank from empty !

I have tried different stations and different pumps. I have positioned the nozzle every way possible --- pulled almost out to rotating all around. I hold the lever slow and even and it still keep shutting off !

On-line solutions suggest things like --- kinked filler tube, gas tank problem (remove and replace $1,000), charcoal canister plugged, and bad “roll-over” (check-valve) valve in the filler tube. This is CRAZY ! It is obviously a VENTING problem, but there has to be a simple solution !

I am not under warranty and it is not any recall for this year and model.
Have you heard of this problem ? Do you know anyone who has had this problem and how it is fixed ?
I am a disabled Viet Nam Vet and I don't have money to try experiments. What do you suggest ?
